I am a die-hard Toronto Maple Leafs fan, so there is generally a lot of pain when talking about the Stanley Cup playoffs. That won’t stop me from putting together my Stanley Cup predictions (and no, I am not picking the Leafs to win, so don’t worry). I am going to pick my cup winner and some other stuff that I see happening.
Gunner’s 2027 Stanley Cup Predictions
The East Winner Will Be The Florida Panthers
The Florida Panthers should be back for a deep run after a rough 2026 season. With Sasha Barkov healthy and the rest of the team getting a long offseason, they will be dangerous in 2027.
I think the Panthers win the East and I don’t think many people will be surprised if it happens.
The West Winner Will Be The Edmonton Oilers
I think that the Edmonton Oilers are going to win the West in 2027. I think they are going to go all in this season, which will include trading a ton of draft picks and whatever else they can for a goalie.
The Oilers need to do everything they can to keep Connor McDavid on the team for the long term. If they don’t get a goalie (AGAIN), they risk losing him and I don’t think management wants that to happen. I expect them to make a big trade and get a bigger name in the pipes.
A goalie isn’t their only issue but I think it will certainly help. Connor, Leon Draisaitl and Evan Bouchard give them a chance to win on any given night. They have just missed on a goalie stealing them some games. If they get that, watch out.
The Edmonton Oilers Will Win The 2027 Stanley Cup
After thinking about it, I am going with the Edmonton Oilers to win the Stanley Cup.
I think McDavid finally gets one. That is just my gut feeling right now but we will see as the year plays out.
