2027 NHL Mock Draft

The NHL Draft is one of my favorite times of the year. This page will be my NHL mock draft. This will be updated as developments happen throughout the year and things will change based on the standings and player performances.

Gunner’s 2027 NHL Mock Draft

LAST UPDATED: May 19th, 2026

1)Calgary FlamesLandon DupontRight DefenseCanada

Landon Dupont is the early favorite to go first overall in this draft. He received exceptional status in the WHL and had an incredible rookie season with the Everett Silvertips.

He is also a defenseman who shoots right, which every team in the league is looking for. I think he definitely goes first overall unless something crazy happens.

I am going to assume Calgary will be in the bottom 5 of the league, so they will have a great chance to pick first overall. They are my early pick to land him. There is a fun connection here as well as Landon’s dad, Micki DuPont was drafted by the Flames back in 2000.

Make sure to check out our predictions for the Canada hockey team at the 2030 Olympics. I don’t have Dupont on there right now but he could make a strong case if he lives up to the hype.

2)Vancouver CanucksAlexis JosephCenterCanada

Alexis Joseph is 6 foot 5, so I think scouts will fall in love with him. He had a solid rookie season with the Saint John Sea Dogs, putting up 60 points in 54 games.

Joseph is big, can put up points and plays a premium position as a Center. I think he will have a great chance to go in the top 3 of this draft.

The Vancouver Canucks are my early pick as I assume they will be drafting in the top 5 again.

3)New York RangersNazar PrivalovLeft WingRussia

Nazar Privalov should be popular among scouts for his size at 6 foot 4 and over 200 pounds. The question for him will be if he is only dominant because of his size and playing smaller opponents. When he gets to a higher level, will he be able to continue dominating or will it get tougher for him?

Power forwards are something all NHL GM’s covet, so I expect him to be a high pick either way based on pure potential. A team will take a swing on him if I had to guess.

4)St. Louis BluesMilan SundströmCenterSweden

Milan Sundström is the son of Niklas Sundström, who played for the New York Rangers, San Jose Sharks and Montreal Canadiens.

We will need to see how the Swedish center develops over the next year but he could find himself in the top 5 of this draft if things go well.

5)Seattle KrakenSammy NelsonCenterUSA

I am going with Sammy Nelson as someone who could end up in the top 5 of this draft. He will be heading to the University of Notre Dame, so it will be interesting to see how he does as a Freshman. I am going to say he does well and gets picked high.
