Here are my predictions for the Team Sweden hockey roster at the next Olympics. This will be for the 2030 Winter Olympics in France, where they will be one of the medal favorites. We try and project who will be the lines, goalies, power play units and penalty kill units. NOTE: We will be updating this as the event draws closer and things will likely change.
Gunner’s Projected Roster For Team Sweden At The Next Olympics
Forward Lines
| Line 1: | William Nylander | Leo Carlsson | Lucas Raymond |
Leo Carlsson is a stud and should be Sweden’s first line center at this tournament.
I am going to pair him with Lucas Raymond and William Nylander on his wing. This would be a fun and dangerous line. Leo can also help out Nylander on the defensive side of the puck.
| Line 2: | Ivar Stenberg | Anton Frondell | Adrian Kempe |
Anton Frondell and Ivar Stenberg both have time to develop and should be on this team.
Adrian Kempe will be older but could provide a veteran presence to this line-up.
| Line 3: | William Eklund | Elias Pettersson | Simon Holmström |
Elias Pettersson should be on this team. I feel like you have to pencil him in for a spot.
I am going to pair him with William Eklund and Simon Holmström, assuming they both develop to their potential.
| Line 4: | Noah Östlund | Joel Eriksson Ek | Jesper Bratt |
I expect Joel Eriksson Ek to be the fourth line center on this team. Would make sense as someone they can trust. My guess is it will be Jesper Bratt and Noah Östlund on his wing but it will depend on how other players develop.
| On the bubble: | Fabian Zetterlund |
| Linus Karlsson | |
| Emil Heineman |
Defense Pairs
| Pair 1: | Rasmus Dahlin (C) | Gustav Forsling |
Rasmus Dahlin should be on the top pair for this tournament and will probably be the captain of the team.
I will pair him with Gustav Forsling, giving them a dominant shut down pairing that is hard to play against. Forsling will be older though, so it will depend on how his body holds up.
On a related note, check out my predictions for the USA Olympic hockey team.
| Pair 2: | Simon Edvinsson | Axel Sandin-Pellikka |
Simon Edvinsson and Axel Sandin-Pellikka should be on this team. Since they are both Detroit Red Wings, a pairing makes sense to me.
| Pair 3: | Philip Broberg | Tom Willander |
Philip Broberg feels like he has a good chance to be on this team based on his age.
I will pair him with Tom Willander. This will require him to develop to his potential.
| On the bubble: | Rasmus Andersson |
| Rasmus Sandin |
Goalies
| Starter: | Jesper Wallstedt |
| Backup: | Filip Gustavsson |
| Third String: | Samuel Ersson |
Wallstedt feels like the favorite right now but we will have to wait and see if any of Sweden’s young goalies make big leaps over the next few years.
